I went to the eye doctor yesterday to get my number checked. Dr Oza’s clinic is at SV Road, facing the main road. His clinic has a very serious look. Obviously, it’s an ophthalmologist’s clinic and people come there with serious problems. In fact, on one of walls, there is a graphic that says ‘Please Be Silent’. All the patients remove their footwear at the reception door and then enter.
I was attended to first, by the doctor’s assistant who checked my eyesight on some fancy machine. I had forgotten to put my cellphone on ‘silent’ mode and she gave me that look when it buzzed. She didn’t say anything but gave me a gentle smile.
Finally, it was my turn to see the doctor. With a slight hesitation, I opened the door to his cabin. The doctor was in his 70s. He was well built but his wrinkles and sagging face gave away his age. He wore thick soda water glasses and had gray side locks….and he was listening to SALAAM NAMASTE on full volume! Yes, the same guy who tells his ailing patients to keep quiet whilst waiting, makes them deaf with loud hindi music.
The doc was jovial and gave me a warm smile that washed away my fear. Also, he had an item number next on his song list ๐ Nice to see someone like him who deals with a lot of stressed out and suffering people, having a lighter side.
I remember Dr.Oza…..have a faint recollection of visiting him many years back. Speaking of cutely weird ophthalmologists….mine has a l’il tv in the waiting room which broadcasts the operation happening inside!!!
Yep, real nice touch :p
Gulp! Thankfully Dr Oza doesn’t support any such visual delights. I would have fainted ๐
